Huaxia Foundation

In May 1981, Hongkong patriot Chen Zhenxia who was with keen love for the motherland, was eager to make China prosperous, donated a sum of money to the country for education and health, under the warmhearted assistance of He Shanheng, honorary board chairman of Hong Kong Hengsheng Bank, He Tian, director of the bank, and He Xian who has passed away.

In December 1982, related national departments decided to set up Huaxia Foundation with an aim to promote socialist construction, develop education and health causes, and foster talents in education and health. The management committee was composed of one director and five members, with Hong Kong office set up to deal with daily affairs. The establishment of Huaxia Foundation made a better use of the fund, effectively promoted our country’s education and health causes.

Huaxia Foundaion mainly provides item subsidies and small amount subsidies, donating equipments and apparatus to the items that play exemplary role in education and health development. It also gives subsidies to some experts, scholars, professional people for external academic exchange. Since its establishment, Huaxia Foundation has offered subsidies to 70 units of education and health in 23 provinces (autonomous regions) and 3 municipalities directly under the central government, small amounts of subsidies to a number of units and individuals. It has won attention and favorable comments from relevant sides with social effectiveness raised.

Since 1988, our college has received 3 subsidies about $260.000 from Huaxia Foundation, of which $10,000 for stomatology, $90,000 for medical laboratory, $70,000 for nursing. These 3 subsidies resolved financial problem of developing majors such as stomatology, medical laboratory, nursing, and strongly pushed professional construction and subject development of our college.

The subsidies from Huaxia Foundation greatly mobilized set input of local government. During that period, our college has won enough set input from Jiangsu Province Health Department. The implement of the funds improved both software and hardware of the college, raised the level of running our school and promoted our long-term development. With increasing student enrollment, our size enlarged and faculty strengthened, our college will foster more excellent medical professionals to urge our country’s health development.
